What began as a hobby for H. M. Pendergrass in the 60's in Osceola, Arkansas, has become a thriving business for his granddaughter Caroline Nichols. "Penny" as Mr. Pendergrass was affectionately known, was a mortician by trade. After retiring from the funeral business, he moved to Nederland to be closer to family; thus began the Nederland Frame Shop in 1974. Mr. Penny instilled in Caroline his desire to provide customers with quality framing; and most importantly, service above and beyond what one might expect. When Caroline began working at the shop in 1978, little did she know she would provide service to all of the Golden Triangle and many out-of-state customers.
